FFP3 category mask usage

FFP3 masks refer to masks that meet the European (CEEN149:2001) standard. The European standards for protective masks are divided into three levels: FFP1, FFP2, and FFP3. The difference from the American standard is that its detection flow rate adopts 95L/min.

FFP3 category mask usage

1. Individual protection products designed to prevent or reduce the dust in the air from entering the human respiratory organs to protect life safety;

2. Material: Anti-particle masks are mostly constructed with two layers of non-woven fabric inside and outside, with a filter cloth (melt blown cloth) in the middle layer;

3. Filtration principle: Filtering fine dust mainly depends on the filter cloth in the middle. Because the melt blown cloth has the characteristics of static electricity, it can absorb positively small particles. Because the fine dust is adsorbed on the original filter, and the original filter is static and cannot be washed with water, the self-priming filter type anti-particulate respirator needs to replace the original filter regularly.

4. Remarks: The international requirements for the use of anti-particulate masks are quite strict. The anti-particulate masks belong to the first level of personal protective equipment, which is higher than earmuffs and protective glasses. The more authoritative testing certifications include CE certification in Europe and NIOSH certification in the United States, while Chinese standards are similar to NIOSH in the United States.

5. Protection objects: The protection objects are divided into KP and KN. The so-called KP is able to protect against oily and non-oily particles, while KN is only able to protect against non-oily particles.

6. Protection level: China's protection level is divided into KP100, KP95, KP90 and KN100, KN95, KN90. Among them, the filtration efficiency of KP100 and KN100 is the highest national standard requires greater than 99.97%, so the safety of use is also the highest.

No. 1: The dust blocking efficiency of the mask should be high. The dust suppression efficiency of a mask is based on its dust suppression efficiency for fine dust, especially for respirable dust below 5 μm. General gauze masks, the principle of dust blocking is mechanical filtration, that is, when dust hits the gauze, it passes through a layer of barriers, blocking some large particles of dust in the gauze. However, fine dust, especially dust less than 5 μm, will pass through the mesh of the gauze and enter the respiratory system.

There are some anti-particulate masks on the market. The filter material is composed of fibers charged with permanent static electricity. Respirable dust less than 5 μm will be attracted by static electricity and adsorbed on the filter material when passing through this filter material. It really plays a role of dust blocking.

No. 2: The degree of closeness between the mask and the face shape is better. When the mask is not close to the face, the dust in the air will enter the respiratory tract from the gaps around the mask. Therefore, people should choose an anti-particle mask that suits their face shape and wear an anti-particle mask correctly.

No. 3: Wear it comfortably, including low breathing resistance, light weight, hygienic wear, and convenient maintenance, such as wearing an arched anti-particle mask.
